Education in Engineering
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji's aptitude for the sciences was evident throughout his school years. After graduation, he pursued this calling at one of India's most prestigious institutions, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, earning a B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1967 with an exemplary academic record.
Recognizing the potential in his grandson, Sant Kirpal Singh Ji encouraged him to further his studies in the United States — a distinction reflecting both his intellectual caliber and his readiness to serve as a bridge between East and West. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji gained admission to the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Before his departure on September 1, 1968, Sant Kirpal Singh Ji had him spend one month at Sawan Ashram, personally instructing him in meditation daily and guiding his inner development.
At Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji excelled in his studies and earned an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1970, completing a distinguished academic journey spanning two of the world's leading engineering institutions. He was selected as the first non-American to receive a “Special Fellowship” at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.

Career in Communications & R&D
Upon completing his graduate studies, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji took up a career in the field of communications, electronics, and computers, holding a prestigious position in research and development. His superiors quickly recognized his astute insights and intellectual acumen, and he was placed on frontier voice-data projects that helped develop new modes of communication, earning national recognition in the United States.
Over his career he was involved in the development of many new products and secured several patents related to telecommunications switching and signal-processing technologies. He draws a natural link between the outer discoveries of science and the inner discoveries of the soul, presenting meditation not as a belief system but as a method of personal exploration — centered on what the Masters describe as “the inner Light and Sound,” inner realities anyone can experience through meditation.

Spiritual Mission Begins
On May 30, 1989, Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj left the earth — a great loss for all who knew him. He had chosen Sant Rajinder Singh Ji to succeed him. At the time of succession, the mission comprised roughly 550 centres in more than 40 countries, with spiritual literature available in 50 languages and over 150,000 disciples worldwide looking to him for guidance.
Despite his own grief, he responded to disciples everywhere seeking consolation and counsel, and on July 28, 1989, he conducted his first initiation as spiritual head, giving seekers their first contact with the inner Light and Sound. From that point, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji embarked on a perpetual world tour — circling the globe roughly three times a year across more than 41 countries and protectorates.
During each city visit, he conducts an intensive program of meditation seminars, public discourses, interviews, and meetings — opening new centres along the way — all toward one goal: helping people from different parts of the world come closer together in bonds of fellowship.

International Meditation Center
To support and expand the mission in the West, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji established the Science of Spirituality Center in Naperville, Illinois, in 1991. As attendance outgrew the original premises, he oversaw the construction of a landmark new centre, inaugurated on 27 July 2018 as the Science of Spirituality International Meditation Center in Lisle, Illinois.
The centre’s iconic design reflects profound spiritual symbolism: a circular central structure with golden-coloured panels etched in a filigree jali pattern representing hands folded in prayer, flanked by two curved wings that appear to embrace all humanity.
The centre houses a spacious Main Hall with exceptional acoustics, a soundproof Meditation Sanctuary, a spirituality library, computer kiosks, and a state-of-the-art audiovisual suite with recording, broadcasting, and translation facilities.
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji also guides activities at more than 3,500 satsang centres worldwide, including mission-owned meditation retreat centres across North America, Europe, Africa, South America, and India.
